On August 29th, 2017, heavy rains brought Mumbai to stand still, again! Almost every part of Mumbai was Waterlogged. Thousands of people were forced to walk in waist-high water in areas like Khar, Lalbaug, Kalina, Hindmata (Dadar) and Sion.
Here’s a video of waterlogging in Mulund Station.
Year after year Mumbai gets stranded in rains. Central and Harbour lines just need 1 hour of heavy rains to shut down. The infrastructure just doesn’t seem to improve. We survive the day and beat our chest in the name of #SpiritOfMumbai.
What are we going to do to fix our Infrastructure? We will spend 3600 crore rupees into building a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji,1.5 km away on a manmade island of rocks.
Have we done and spent enough to fix the land that we are living on that we can afford to build new islands to host a statue? Why don’t we ask enough questions every time this happens? Is this a problem that just cannot be fixed or they know that we are going to elect the same people no matter what!
